Dubai Culture launched, in partnership with Dubai National Theater, the ‘Theater and People’ series, comprising virtual discussion seminars, aiming to highlight key issues related to performing arts, as well as showcase the diverse works and creative experiences enriching the local scene and reflecting the cultural landscape in the UAE.The series saw its first session broadcast via the Zoom platform, where media personality and content creator Abdullah Al Shehhi presented the first session titled “Theater and Social Media”, and hosted Emirati artist Ahmed Abdul Razzaq, in a discussion that addressed the impact of digital transformations on the creative scene, and how modern platforms have become part of the equation for an artist’s reach and interaction with the audience.*QuestionThe meeting began by addressing a central question about the relationship between trends and an artist’s presence, and whether digital fame creates a theater star, or if theater is what grants an artist their true presence and establishes their artistic standing, where it was emphasized that the balance between digital reach, talent, and live performance is an essential element in an artist’s development, and that direct experience in front of an audience remains the most profound factor in solidifying presence, refining, and developing talent.The meeting also discussed the role of social media in supporting the artistic movement in general, by enhancing audience access and promoting cultural shows and events, in addition to its direct impact on artists, whether in terms of reach, interaction, or even building their public image, and the meeting touched upon the positive aspects these platforms offer in facilitating the dissemination of artistic content, versus the challenges that may arise from their ill-considered use.Participants stressed that digital platforms have become an indispensable tool in the contemporary art scene, but they require significant awareness in their management, to maintain a balance between rapid dissemination and the artistic value of the content presented.*Diversity<\/strong>Fatima Al Jallaf, Acting Director of the Performing Arts Department at Dubai Culture, pointed out that the program’s idea stemmed from a firm belief in the role of culture in serving society, and in line with the vision of the Dubai government, which places human development and the consolidation of cultural and national values at the forefront of its priorities.<\/p>\n\n

She explained that the series of seminars, were designed as interactive seminars highlighting the most prominent issues and challenges facing the creative scene amidst the diversity of modern arts and the acceleration of entertainment and communication methods, in addition to presenting honorable examples from the careers of artists who have contributed to preserving this cultural heritage and keeping pace with modern life developments. It also aims to open a direct dialogue space with the public and answer followers’ questions via the Zoom platform in an interactive and direct manner, thereby enhancing communication between the artist and the audience.Fatima Al Jallaf affirmed that the core value of this initiative aligns with Dubai’s approach to fostering generations confident in their cultural and national identity, and capable of continuing the journey of creativity, preserving local heritage, and developing it to keep pace with the future.*Partnership<\/strong>Artist Abdullah Saleh Al Rumaithi, Vice Chairman of Dubai National Theater, expressed his pride in the partnership with Dubai Culture in launching the ‘Theater and People’ program, stressing that this collaboration reflects a shared vision aimed at supporting the creative movement in the UAE and enhancing its sustainable presence in society.<\/p>\n\n
